What you need for the technical inspection (ITP)

Every vehicle registered in Moldova must pass a technical inspection, which decides whether it may be used on public roads. The vehicle is checked against national road-safety and environmental standards. The inspection also confirms that the road tax has been paid and that the owner holds motor third-party liability insurance (RCA).

Before you go, make sure you have:

  • Valid RCA insurance (paper or electronic) – you can buy RCA quickly in the omnis app or on the website.
  • Proof of road tax payment – required for the ITP; you can pay it quickly through omnis.
  • Identity card
  • Driving licence
  • Vehicle registration certificate

The car must be equipped with:

  • Fire extinguisher
  • First-aid kit
  • Warning triangle and, preferably, a reflective vest

Once everything above is in order and in the vehicle, you can go to or book a technical inspection at one of the stations below.

About ADR, CEMT and INTERBUS certifications

At testing stations in Moldova, these marks show which special vehicles or international activities the station is authorized to inspect. They are not certifications for an ordinary car, but for specific types of transport.

ADR – Means international road transport of dangerous goods. An ADR-marked station can inspect vehicles used for that transport under the ADR agreement. Its current title is the Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. ANTA also lists ADR certificates for drivers.

CEMT – Refers to international road freight under the CEMT/ECMT regime. Vehicles that apply for international freight permits must hold the CEMT certificate for the technical-control conditions of motor vehicles and trailers, plus a valid periodic inspection report. A CEMT-marked station can carry out the checks needed for that certificate.

INTERBUS – Covers occasional international passenger transport by bus or coach. The Transport Code and the ANTA page state that this transport is carried out under the INTERBUS Agreement. An INTERBUS-marked station is relevant for passenger vehicles used on occasional international trips.

In short:

  • ADR = dangerous goods
  • CEMT = international freight
  • INTERBUS = occasional international passenger transport
